Val was unexpectedly called to her heavenly home on September 30th, 2021. Born to Edward and Edna Paulsen on July 6th, 1941 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, she came into this world with a heart and soul filled with music and the desire to share the same with one and all throughout the course of the subsequent eighty years.

Interspersed with living the life of a loving and loved wife and mother she found time to sing both in the church environment and professionally. Her love of music further manifested itself in her serving as the choir director for Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Tucson, Arizona (20 years) and then Heritage Lutheran Church in Gilbert, Arizona (15 years), her husband serving as Pastor for both congregations. When she was not singing, directing or playing her organ, she worked primarily as a sales representative for a number of local and national corporations.

Val is preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Steven and Brent, and son-in-law, Robbie Dunbar.

Val lives on in the hearts of her loving husband of 59 years, Pastor Richard Paustian; two daughters, Lea Dunbar (Ron Smith) and Heather Randol; four grandchildren, Tonya Kloosterman (Jeff), Noel Moreni (Justin), Brandon Randol and Cheyanne Randol; five great-grandchildren, Dusty, Brody, Rylee, Kenzie and Tallulah; sister-in-law, Jean Gohr; nephew, Paul Reed, and countless family and friends.

Val would make known to her circle of family and friends that as a follower of a loving Savior, her future has been secured. As your read these words she has already seen her Savior’s smiling face, his arms outstretched in welcome and has heard him say to her ever so tenderly “Val, enter now into the glory prepared for you in eternity.”

Val’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 16th, 2021 at 1:00 pm, at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 812 N Meridian Drive, Apache Junction, Arizona  85120.

In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to King of Kings Lutheran Church, designating it for mission work.

Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery (Mesa, AZ) handled the arrangements.
