Vicki Lee Wirtz went to be with her Saviour on Saturday, July 26, 2014 in Denver, Colorado where her courageous battle with complications from Job’s Syndrome ended. She was born in Mora, Minnesota to Amos (Jack) and Alice Lilienthal on December 26, 1950, the seventh of eleven children. Her early years were spent on the family farm where she attended a country school through 6th grade and Hinckley High School until her family moved to the state of Washington in 1966. She graduated from Lake Washington High School. After graduating from nursing school as an LPN, Vicki worked in the nursing field for most of her life. She and her husband also ran an adult care home for women with Alzheimer’s disease. Vicki loved to study the Word of God. She also loved to paint, bake, sew, watch old movies, and dance to the oldies with her husband. Vicki participated in book clubs and wasn’t afraid to stand up for what was right. She was little but could talk circles around anyone. Vicki loved her sons and was very proud of the men they became.
Vicki is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Vernon, Phillip, and Leonard Lilienthal. She is survived by her husband Richard Wirtz, her sons Rick (Kathy) Wirtz of Snohomish, Washington and Andy (Traci) Wirtz, of Apache Junction, AZ; her six grandchildren Alex, Sam, Kallista, Regan, Marissa, and Skylar Wirtz; her sisters Joyce Cline, Kansas, Judy Parker, Washington, Karen (Gary) Steiner, Minnesota, Cheryl (Al) Potter, Montana, Bonnie Brown, Montana, her brothers Rodney (Dorothy) Lilienthal, Montana, and Ronald (Maride) Lilienthal, Washington, and many nieces and nephews. Two very special foster children, Fred (Briana) Wirtz and Amy Wirtz of Washington and her foster grandchildren Grant, Isaac, and Jovee also survive her.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 4, from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Mountain View Funeral Home, 7900 E. Main Street, Mesa. A celebration of her life will be held at Canyon Springs Baptist Church, 178 S. Mountain View Road, Apache Jct., on Tuesday, August 5, at 11:00 a.m. Services will be conducted by her son, Pastor Andy Wirtz and friend, Pastor Jack Lamb.
