Forever In the Hearts They Leave Behind

Virginia Ann Almendarez

December 3, 1929 – October 25, 2022

Virginia Ann Almendarez age 92 passed away peacefully in Mesa Arizona on October 25, 2022 after a brief illness. Preceded in death by her late beloved husband Louis Almendarez who passed away in May 2016. She is survived by three sons from her first marriage to Ronald Garrett: Ronald Garrett Jr., Steven Garrett and Douglas Garrett, and two grandsons, Joshua Garrett and Jonathan Garrett. Virginia was born in Albion Michigan in December 1929, grew up in Paso Robles and San Jose California,  and worked in the Santa Clara County area for most of her adult life before retiring in Mesa Arizona. Virginia worked for a number of years at Cherry Chase Elementary school in Sunnyvale California, looked forward to visits to the timeshare lime orchard she and Louis owned in Hawaii, enjoyed singing in her church choir and enjoyed summer camping trips to New Brighton State Beach with her two grandsons Josh and Jon. She was forever grateful to her oldest son Ron, whose in-home support made it possible for her to spend the last decade of her life at her home in Mesa despite her growing infirmity. We will all deeply miss her ever present smiles, laughter, thoughtfulness and adventuresome spirit. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday November 30, 2022 at 10:00am in the All Saints Chapel, Gates of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Los Altos California. This will be followed by a brief interment of ashes ceremony at her gravesite in the nearby Queen of Peace section of the cemetery. All friends and family are welcome to attend.
