Walter Holmes Smith, 92, passed away April 9, 2015, in Mesa, Arizona. He was born January 13, 1923 in Phoenix, Arizona to Theodora Blake Holmes and Walter Charles Smith. He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen. His survivors include the love of his life for 68 years Phyllis, his son Blake, daughter Lorrain Powell, 11 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. He served for three years in the Army Air Corps in World War II. Walter was an avid collector of antiquities from all over the world. This was his favorite pastime since he was a young boy. He loved his wife and children and thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Walter was kind and generous to all he knew. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Funeral Services will be held on April 17th, at the LDS Church, 3025 S. Hawes Road, Mesa, AZ 85212. There will be a brief visitation from 10:00-10:45, with the funeral services beginning at 11:00.
