Warren Begley died peacefully on October 17, 2018, surrounded by his loving wife Agnes of 72 years and daughters Tricia Hudgins and Judy Zangri and Grandson Stephen Rains. He was 102 years old.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 73 years, Agnes Sigmon Begley and two daughters Patricia Hudgins and Judith Zangri, son in law, Al Zangri, grandchildren Stephen Rains, Kathleen Reiman (Todd Reiman), Randy Hudgins, Kimberly Yeatts (Joshua Yeatts), Karen Schneiter (Chad Schneiter), Travis Zangri (Anu Zangri) and great grandchildren Joshua Reiman, Cody Reiman, Anne Marie Reiman, Stephen Rains, Ruby Yeatts, Rilo Yeatts, Brendan Schneiter, Claire Schneiter, Elise Schneiter, Lara Zangri and Isaac Zangri.
Warren was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on June 5, 1916 to parents Dennis William Begley and Goldie Baker Begley. As a boy he lived in Kansas, Missouri and during the depression moved to Bell, California where he graduated from grammar, Jr and High School. He graduated from UCLA with a degree in Applied Physics. World War II had just begun so when he graduated, he was hired by Naval Research Lab in Washington, D.C. He worked on the Search Radar Antenna Group. He was sent to Bremerton Navy yard to check out installation on the carrier Enterprise. He also worked on the CV carriers in Norfolk, VA. and the cruiser Baltimore in Boston.
Agnes and Warren were married on November 3, 1945 in the Methodist church in Washington, D.C. They honeymooned on their way to California via Miami, New Orleans and Arkansas (for Warren to meet her parents). Warren was hired by Northrup Aircraft while it was still under John Northrup and he said it was like a family. They worked at the Edwards Air Force Test Center and he later did electronics on the Snark Missile. He transferred to the Radioplane Division where he was section head of drone electronics. Next, he worked for Systems Labs who were absorbed by Electronics Specialties. Later he worked for Lockheed Missiles and Space Division on a Digital check out system for the Agena. The Division moved to Sunnyvale and Warren would not relocate his family, so he took a job at Aerospace, Corp in El Segundo, CA. He retired from Aerospace.
Warren was a voracious reader of history and literature. He read books in German, French, Russian and English. When he retired to Lake Elsinore, he grew wine grapes and experimented with making wine, he grew his own vegetables making Ratatouille and experimenting making loaves of french bread.
Warren was a loving husband and father. He spent his last few years holding hands with the love of his life, Agnes. He will be dearly missed and will forever remain in the hearts of his family.
