William J. (Bill) Paulson, passed away May 13, 2011 at his home in Apache Wells, Mesa, AZ with his loving wife Lois and son Jim and his wife Judy at his side. Bill was born in Standard, Alberta, Canada January 13, 1923, but spent his adult years in South Bend, IN. He enlisted in the US Air Force during WWII and was proud to have flown the fastest plane at that time the P-51 Mustang. Bill was an entrepreneur, owning and operating many different businesses, including car lots, service stations, grocery stores and restaurants most notably the G&H Lunches dubbed by the Studebaker workers the Gag & Heave. In his retirement years, he invested in real estate in the Apache Wells area. Bill was an avid golfer, loved boats and fishing, traveling, Las Vegas and parties. His sense of humor endeared him to all who knew him friends, nieces and nephews, 4 step-grandchildren, 6 step-great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren in South Bend, 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren in Canada. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. On February 6, 1951, he married Genevieve (Jean) Deka who preceeded him in death. On September 11, 1999, he married Lois Hansen of Calgary. He is survived by a daughter Caroll (Larry) Johnson, a son Jim (Judy) Paulson, step-children Leon (Cindy) Hansen, Dee Beaulac, Mona (Mike) Laut and their families in Indiana and Canada. Bill will be missed by all who knew him. Services will be held at Apache Wells Community Church, 2115 N. Gayridge Rd., Mesa, AZ at 11:00 am on Monday May 23, 2011 with lunch following. In lieu of flowers, please gift St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
